Why do I need the TCIC Gateway?

If you are using a state pix box or some other type state WAN connection, the Gateway might be a much cheaper solution for you and more secure. The Gateway is web based so all you need is an internet connection and it secures information completely from the browser to the host server so that information on the user's local network is completely secure. Also, only the user who is given a certificate can access the web applications at TBI, so not just anyone that gains access to a computer connected to the PIX box will be able to gain access to TBI web applications. There is no software to load on your system.

How secure is the Gateway?

The Gateway is more secure than a PIX box firewall and meets and exceeds CJIS security requirements and it secures information completely from the browser to the host server so that information on the user's local network is completely secure. Also, only the user who is given a certificate can access the web applications at TBI, so not just anyone that gains access to a computer connected to the PIX box will be able to gain access to TBI web applications.
